Julie is a very experienced and highly qualified teacher. Classes are friendly and taught in a relaxed atmosphere, though the yoga can be precise and demanding. Julie has both a practical and intuitive approach to teaching, helping to bring students a greater level of self awareness.
Practising yoga since 1978, becoming an introductory teacher in 1997, gaining the full junior intermediate qualification in 2004 gaining the first Senior Intermediate Teaching Certificate in 2013. Julie recently qualified as an Assessor and is currently training as a teacher Trainer.
It is her policy to constantly update her knowledge and maintain standards by working with senior teachers. This includes regular trips to Pune, India to be taught by the Iyengar family and learning under their guidance in the therapy classes.
She has a particular interest in the benefits of yoga and the therapeutic role it can play for a variety of health conditions, her knowledge is supported with a Biology HC and until recently she run a Therapy Class in Edinburgh with two other Iyengar Teachers.
Over the years Julie has taught yoga to a variety of groups outside her classes: from preschool through to secondary school, sport clubs, care centres and in the workplace. Julie is also invited to venues all over Scotland as a guest teacher for workshops and is asked to cover classes of all levels at The Edinburgh Iyengar Centre.

Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark: Iyengar teachers follow an intensive training programme, followed by rigorous examinations, The Iyengar Yoga Certification Mark, shown on the left, is internationally recognised as a sign of excellence. In Britain, the Iyengar Yoga Association of the United Kingdom regulates the quality of teaching.
